Carl Rittberger Sr., Inc.
Carl Rittberger, Sr. was born in Lorch, Germany in 1882. He schooled in Meat Trade School before coming the United States in the late 1800's.

From a small retail trade acquired through a stand in the Zanesville City Market, he expanded into the wholesale business at his farm on Lutz Lane, where he began September 22, 1910.

In the early days Carl road on horseback throughout the county buying livestock along the way, and drove the animals back to the plant by horse. As his business grew he purchased farms, some 800 acres and raised some of his own livestock so he could stay up with the demand. Today we still raise cattle on over 450 acres of land.

Even in these modern times, we still smoke meat with hickory wood and use the same recipes that Carl pleased his customers with from the start.
Quality was always Carl's number one goal.

Even in these tough times, we remain committed to the values that grandpa left behind. We are still family owned and operated by the 2nd, 3rd and 4th generations.

Because of our commitment to quality, we still use the same recipes and procedures the grandpa used. So if "Old World Flavor" is what your looking for, look no further!
